INT. HART MANOR — KITCHEN — MORNING

The kitchen is all soft morning light and quiet luxury — marble, brass, a pot of coffee breathing on the warmer.

Roger stands at the counter in a fresh suit, buttoning his cuff. Geneva, silk robe, hair not yet done, watches him from the island with two coffee cups poured.

GENEVA

ROGER

He takes one of the cups, drinks it black, standing.

GENEVA

ROGER

GENEVA

Roger sets the cup down with deliberate care.

GENEVA

ROGER

Geneva's face hardens.

GENEVA

ROGER

Geneva flinches like she's been slapped.

ROGER (CONT'D)

He collects his phone from the counter.

GENEVA

ROGER

He crosses to the door, then pauses without turning around.

ROGER (CONT'D)

The door closes behind him.

Geneva stands alone in the beautiful kitchen. Her hand drifts toward the wine fridge. Hovers.

She pulls it back.

EXT. HART MANOR — KITCHEN TERRACE — CONTINUOUS

ELLE enters through the terrace door in sweats and a hoodie, hair loose, a little hesitant in the enormous space.

She catches Geneva's face before Geneva can rearrange it.

ELLE

Geneva fixes her expression. Fixes a smile over it, like makeup.

GENEVA

Elle glances at the two coffee cups on the island. One of them untouched.

ELLE

GENEVA

ELLE

A beat. Elle drifts to the island and takes the untouched cup.

ELLE (CONT'D)

Geneva brightens.

GENEVA

ELLE

Geneva's smile holds, but something behind it goes out.

GENEVA

ELLE

Elle carries her coffee toward the terrace. At the door she stops, half-turned.

ELLE (CONT'D)

Geneva looks up, ready.

ELLE (CONT'D)

She's gone. Geneva stands in the marble quiet, alone with a kitchen built for a family.

EXT. HART MANOR — DRIVEWAY — DAY

A sleek black car idles at the circular drive. Keith stands by the rear door, sunglasses on, crisp as ever.

Elle comes out and slides into the back seat. Keith closes her door, rounds the hood, and gets in behind the wheel.

INT. KEITH'S CAR — MOVING — DAY

Atlanta slides past the windows. Elle watches it without really seeing it.

KEITH

ELLE

Keith glances at her in the mirror.

KEITH

ELLE

KEITH

Elle is quiet a moment.

ELLE

KEITH

ELLE

KEITH

ELLE

She turns toward the window.

ELLE (CONT'D)

KEITH

ELLE

KEITH

Elle is quiet. Then:

ELLE

KEITH

ELLE

Keith watches the road.

ELLE (CONT'D)

A pause. When Keith speaks, his voice is easy. Almost bored.

KEITH

Elle's head snaps up. In the mirror, Keith shrugs.

KEITH (CONT'D)

ELLE

KEITH

Elle says nothing.

KEITH (CONT'D)

ELLE

Keith checks the mirror. Holds her eyes for a beat longer than he needs to.

KEITH

Elle stares at him.

ELLE

Keith smiles, small and easy, and turns back to the road.

KEITH

The car rolls on into the city. In the mirror, Elle keeps watching him.
