INT. HART MANOR — STUDY — DAY

The heavy oak door clicks shut, the sound echoing in the sudden silence. KEITH stands perfectly still, his gaze fixed on GENEVA. She swirls the wine in her glass, her expression unreadable.

GENEVA

KEITH

GENEVA

Keith doesn’t blink. His voice is steady, calm.

KEITH

Geneva raises a skeptical eyebrow. She takes a slow sip of her wine, watching him over the rim of the glass.

GENEVA

KEITH

Geneva considers this. A slow, satisfied smile touches her lips. She sets her glass down. This answer pleases her. It makes him disciplined. Loyal.

GENEVA

She lets that hang in the air for a beat. Her eyes narrow, her tone shifting from pleased to probing.

GENEVA

Keith’s professional mask doesn’t slip, but something in his eyes hardens. He takes two silent, deliberate steps forward, closing the space between them until he’s standing directly over her chair. He leans down, placing one hand on the leather armrest next to her thigh, bringing his face intimately close to hers. The scent of his cologne, clean and masculine, fills the air. Geneva’s breath catches in her throat.

KEITH

(his voice a low, dangerous growl)

His gaze drops to her lips, then returns to her eyes.

KEITH

He leans in a fraction closer, his voice dropping to a husky whisper that is for her alone.

KEITH

He holds her captive with his eyes for one charged, breathless moment. Geneva is frozen, not by fear, but by a jolt of pure, unadulterated shock and arousal.

Then, just as quickly as he moved in, Keith straightens up and steps back, resuming his neutral, professional posture. The spell is broken, but the electricity of it remains, crackling in the space between them.

Geneva stares up at him, her composure momentarily fractured. She recovers, a slow, knowing, predatory smile spreading across her face. This is the answer she wanted, even if she didn’t know how to ask the question.

GENEVA

She takes a slow, slightly unsteady breath.

GENEVA

KEITH

He gives a single, sharp nod and turns, exiting the study without another word.

Alone, Geneva lifts her wine glass, her hand trembling almost imperceptibly. She drains it in one long swallow, her eyes alight with a dangerous, triumphant fire.
